It has been a long time and a lot has happened since I last wrote. The good news is that I am just as clueless as ever but now I have even more reasons to be clueless. You may already know but I have married and together we have two more girls to add to the cluelessness. That’s 5 daughters all together!
Daughter #4 will be called Spitfire! She is amazingly loving and funny yet has the ability to literally spit fire. She is faster than a speeding bullet! She can be running through the parking lot (away from her friend that told his mother that they had to wait for her to catch him after school) and immediately stop to pick a pretty flower!
Daughter #5 will be called Chilly. She is as chill as they come. Loves to smile and make others smile. She observes her fellow inmates at daycare crying and she just watched and laughs.
I have always found it interesting as people have asked over the years if I ever wanted to have a boy instead of daughters during the pregnancy. I would always, I repeat always, say NO!
I am happy being a girl dad.
It brings me joy and contentment to know that I get to be their dad and the one they look up to, cry out for, and be a goof with. I also get to be an example of what they should be looking for in a husband.
DEFINITELY NOT READY FOR THAT YET!
The truth of the matter is this. I am one clueless dad but I think I would be even more clueless raising boys. I was one and I know what boys are like.
Girls are pretty and strong, cute but tough, lovely yet scary all at the same time!
My desire is to write more about my journeys as a clueless father (and husband) as I have lots of moments to talk about.
But today let me leave you with one quick thought.
All of our kids are completely different. It doesn’t matter that their DNA is the same. They are completely different. They think different, talk different, act different, react different, and love different.
So, get your attention away from your phone and start figuring out who your kids are, what they love, and be a little less clueless. Enjoy a little of what they enjoy!
