We all have different opportunities come to us in life. They can be inherited, earned, given, or even received by accident. Opportunities are like a free chance, a break, they can almost be like a new start.
We have to remember that our own mind and thoughts interfere with these opportunities. I know that sounds wrong but we are (our mind specifically) our own worst enemy.
I inherited the gift of worry. I am not proud of that but I came to that realization a very long time ago.
You may ask yourself what this does for you?
Well I have learned to deal with it. I know I am far from free from worry but I choose what to do with my own thoughts. If I feed them and let them grow then I have chosen to head down that path.
How are these seemingly unrelated two ideas possibly connected?
Some times we are presented with an opportunity; school, work, an amazing deal, etc.
If we allow our own mind to decide for us why we received this opportunity then we may miss the real purpose.
The purpose is to be able to enjoy the opportunities presented before us. Many people’s lives depend upon our accepting these unique opportunities. If we don’t walk into them many people will miss out on the extended good that will be obtained.
These opportunities are greater than just you or I.
Does it matter why I was asked to participate?
My brain would like to tell me that it is due to pity, lack of another more qualified candidate, someone cancelled last-minute, they called the wrong number.
I know, my mind is talented.
Honestly though, it doesn’t matter why me. We should never question why me. We should question what can I do thru this opportunity? How many other people will be touched because of my decision?
The decision is so much greater than me.
As our kids grow up and start to make decisions, let’s help them to see beyond the immediate effect that each opportunity may have. Let’s teach them to see beyond themselves and realize that each opportunity they get is a chance for them to become someone else’s opportunity.
So instead of worrying about why let’s accept it and think about what else we can do with this new opportunity.
We may never comprehend how each decision has such a great impact on so many lives.
