I Quit!!!

Life can get very very busy!

You can see in prior posts the need to combine activities, bounce off the walls, and everything else to keep the kids feeling loved, cared about, receiving enough attention, and everything else they need in this life.

The more we invest in their lives the more we get drained. We do run out of time, out of energy, out of ideas, and even out of words. We will always love our kids and do anything for them, even the impossible!

But with all we have to do we get to the point of frustration, the edge of a breakdown, and our desire is to quit.

Quitting has to be the easiest solution. It makes sense. Count my losses and get out while I still can. Life shouldn’t be this hard!

My own words come back to haunt me sometimes. While trying to deal with life’s different and complex issues with the girls the only words that come to me are in the following statement.

Life Sucks!

Sometimes that’s all I can say. Let’s cry together about the newest misfortune in our telenovela.

The good things about telenovelas is that the most unfortunate person always winds up marrying the one that has everything going for them.

Life will get better. Give it time. Let the story unfold.

I think the key is to take a step back, not walk away.

Take a step back, take a moment, breathe some fresh air.

We must remember that we need our personal time. I remember talking with my best friend last year about the concept of recharging ourselves like a cell phone battery. To obtain the longest and best battery life we must drain it completely then charge it completely. (I know none of us do this. We live with a power chord around your
necks.)

If we are to be fully beneficial to our children we must have energy, be ready whenever an emergency arises. We need to learn how to drain our battery and also how to recharge it.

There are many ways to do each and we would laugh if we all talk about what energizes us. I will use myself as an example.

To drain myself completely, let me do some good old manual labor. Cut the grass, mix cement, cut down a tree, move a block pile. Anything that will make me sweat and get my my mind to slow down is perfect.

To recharge I can do a couple of things. Exercise, chasing a bouncy orange ball up and down a court, even taking a hike.

Find out what recharges you. Remember what you liked to do before life happened to you.
Once you find out what it is, invest in yourself. Recognize in yourself when things are falling apart and invest time.
Take a step back, unwrap the chord from around your neck, and plug yourself in to get recharged. You will feel better and be able to help the kids the way they deserve.
