Deja Vu

Deja Vu is basically a vivid memory of something before it happens or remembering it as it is happening.

I once heard a study that our brains create patterns based on actions and consequences. We simply program our brains into understanding what to expect because of what just happened. It is a simple process. I am not a huge fan of ginger because of  bad experience when I was a child. It may or may not have been the ginger but my brain associates the two and doesn’t want that feeling back.

I tend to be very analytical. It may be safe to say that I even over analyze. So as for my brain it studies as much as possible before programming itself. It also likes to believe that once the analyzation process and computing are done that everything is set.

No more variances!

Unfortunately not everything is that simple. My poor computer brain struggles when everything changes, when kids grow up, when their interests change, even when it realizes that all three of them are different.

Sparkle and I were talking about personal space and she reminded me of something very important. She likes to share everyone else’s personal space.

What does that look like exactly?

I am glad you asked via telepathy.

Wherever she is, if she has someone close by that she trusts, she will throw a leg on top of them, an arm over, or simply lay down and relax.

I was explaining the size of where we were sitting and the limited space I had. It honestly felt like she was pushing me off this side of the planet. She said “You better get used to it”.

I was reminded that there are somethings that will repeat themselves and that we should try to keep that equation repeating as much as possible. Some day perhaps her personal space bubble will grow and push me away instead of swallowing me whole, but until then I will enjoy the deja vu moment.

Rubbing a foot today, listening to some of their latest news, thinking that I did the same thing yesterday, and knowing that it will not repeat itself forever helps my brain understand that it can’t compute everything and that I need to enjoy it all.

Enjoy the non repetitive and the repetitive, the old and the new.

We never know when deja vu will happen again.
