Pit bulls and unicorns are connected in my world!
We all face daily decisions and many of them seem pointless and meaningless. However all decisions are important.
I like to believe that all of us as parents want what is best for our children no matter what. However I think that sometimes we don’t know how to show it well and I have seen far too many examples of the this recently.
Now this goes back to selfishness. (You can read prior posts about that one.)
Ultimately I had to make the decision that every decision would be based upon protecting my daughters. This seems pretty easy but it gets quite complicated.
Pit bulls!
Pit bulls can be mean and nasty. They are tenacious and will hang on for dear life. Nothing can shake them loose.
I will protect the girls like a pit bull! No matter what happens I will be their greatest ally in life. I will always be there to defend and protect them. I may take a beating along the way but I will not stop until they are protected.
Unicorns!
Unicorns are awesome. They are beautiful and majestic. A quick disclaimer, I am not a unicorn. Unicorns represent everything that can be happy and wonderful, care free.
I want the girls to be able to see life as great and beautiful. That they can do anything they put their heart to. That they are unique, beautiful, and loved.
The fine line that seperates.
I have had many opportunities to do what would be acceptable, what would be viewed as normal. Some people would even say that I would have done what is right. Just because others say it is normal doesn’t mean that I should do it.
We must learn when to let the pit bull rest and our inner unicorn reveal itself. (Yes I just said my inner unicorn)
I cannot do what’s normal if it puts the magical unicorn life in jeopardy. I must protect and defend them and everything great that is still to come without destroying their present or future in the process.
It’s a fine line and we must learn to walk it ever so delicately every single day.
