Call me Wilson!

Why can’t I be in two places at once?

That has to be one of my most frequent questions.

Obviously I know that this is physically impossible and it will never become a reality but it doesn’t mean that it isn’t a question that crosses my mind.

Let me take you back to give you the back story of this instance at least.

As I lay in bed next to Sparkle trying to get her to go to sleep Crystal cries out, “Dad can you come tuck us in?”

(Yes, us means that Crystal and Dixie often sleep in the same room and yes, it also means that they still want to be tucked in every night.)

So I get up and go to the other room and tuck them in but they don’t want the light off yet nor the door closed because Dixie is still reading.

With that Sparkle cries out for my attention. She is still awake and wants me near. So I go back and lay down once again.

After a couple minutes Dixie asks for the lights to be turned off and the door to be closed. So I go and do that and, of course, back to Sparkle again.

The back and forth and back and forth can definitely wear on us. It makes us feel like tennis balls. It makes us feel futile in our attempts to achieve progress.

Having a clone could be a good solution but then there would two of me going back and forth. We would bump into each other sooner or later.

It is note worthy that only one tennis ball is used at a time in a game, set, and match. (I don’t understand why the scoring system is the way it is. Why does love mean zero or empty handed? That is definitely a topic for another day!)

The tennis ball’s purpose is to go back and forth and back and forth. There is no other purpose than that. If used any other way it is technically incorrect. I have seen tennis balls used for many things, placed on the feet of a walker, hung to show where to stop in the garage, etc. Ultimately they are all being used effectively but not for their purpose.

We could complain about not having enough time, not being able to be cloned, or many other things. But we should never complain about being a tennis ball flying back and forth between our kids.

This is our purpose!

We exist to be there for them, to always bounce back, to fly over obstacles, directed at them to make sure that they get the love they need and are never left empty handed.

Much of how you will be remembered is decided by what you do.

You can call me Wilson or Penn !!!!!!
